Dick Costolo
Former CEO of Twitter
.CEO Registry Member

Dick Costolo is well known as the former CEO and COO of Twitter, replacing the previous Twitter CEO Evan Williams in October 2010. Costolo’s journey started in 1985 when he graduated with B.S. degree in computer and communication sciences from the University of Michigan.

By 1996 Costolo had sold his first company, Burning Door Networked Media, and was on the way to founding his next business SpyOnIt. In 2004, after founding and selling two businesses, Costolo went on to found yet another company, which this time was purchased by Google in 2007.

Dick Costolo was subsequently employed by Google due to the clear success of his previous entrepreneurial ventures, but by 2009 had been scouted by Twitter as the new COO. A year later Costolo was asked to step up as interim CEO while the Evan Williams was on paternity leave. However, Even would never return as CEO, as Costolo quickly proved himself worthy of the Social Media giant. On June 11th, Costolo would step down as Twitter CEO due to the growing criticism behind his replacement of much of Twitter’s top management.
